about
Here's one to listen to in your darkest hour when you need someone to tell you how awesome things are going to be VERY SOON. This song was inspired by an event I was at back in Fall 2010. We called it the Segue Party because of its highly transitional nature. This track represents how I felt for a large portion of the party. It's my first time adhering strictly to a compositional form, and I learned a ton making it. In particular, check out the instrumental solo sections. Enjoy!
lyrics
(Verse)
There once was a time
When things weren't so great
Now things are different
We've overcome our fate
Blinking red light in the darkness
Approach with trepidation
Reach out your hand, a door opens wide
It's a party! A celebration
(Prechorus)
Emotional chord progression
Conveys the state I'm in
Sing up here to make things clear
You know you're gonna get through and win
(Chorus)
When you feel you're stumbling through a dark and endless night
When all that you see is struggle, to the left and the right
Know that you'll succeed and you will make it through the fight
You just gotta hold on, stay strong, then you'll see the light
Let's go!
(Solo)
(Verse)
Mind over matter
Head down, ignore the pain
Attack the problem with all your vigor and might
You've got everything to gain
Delayed gratification
Builds a stronger will
Get all your work done before it's due
Then you can go out and chill
(Prechorus)
It may sound like I'm speaking
In vague generalities
Abstract it out, without a doubt
You'll find out how to utilize these
(Chorus)
When you feel confronted by an overwhelming fright
When all that you taste is turmoil, everything in your sight
Know that you'll succeed and you will make it through the fight
You just gotta stand tall, don't fall
The future will be bright!
(Breakdown)
There once was a time that things were bad
But now we're living in the time when the things are good, yeah!
(Solos)
(Prechorus)
I hope you've learned some lessons
About what to do in life
Hear this song, forget what's wrong
You now know how to conquer strife
(Chorus)
When you feel you're stumbling through a dark and endless night
When all that you see is struggle to the left and the right
Know that you'll succeed and you will make it through the fight
You just gotta hold on, stay strong, then you'll see the light
(Outro)
Now things are good
But once things were bad
But now things are good
But once things were bad
But now things are good
But that thing right there
But this thing right here
But once things were bad
But now things are good!
Good, good, bad!
Good!
